New Zealand Wine: Saint Clair Sees Red And White Splendour At Decanter World Wine Awards
(drinks media wire) - Saint Clair Family Estate is thrilled to announce an exceptional result at the Decanter World Wine Awards 2012. Two prestigious trophies have been awarded to the family-owned Marlborough winery recognising outstanding quality for both Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir.
The iconic Saint Clair Wairau Reserve Sauvignon Blanc 2011 showed its esteemed quality, receiving the New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc Over £10 trophy. The Saint Clair Pioneer Block 14 Doctor’s Creek Pinot Noir 2010 expressed its unique terroir and was awarded the New Zealand Pinot Noir Over £10 trophy.
The 2012 wine competition comprised of a gruelling judging process where only the very best were awarded a coveted gold medal. These wines were then re-tasted against others in their Regional Category to determine the very best of their region.

Saint Clair Pioneer Block 18 Snap Block Sauvignon Blanc 2011
Saint Clair Wairau Reserve Sauvignon Blanc 2011
Saint Clair Pioneer Block 14 Doctor’s Creek Pinot Noir 2010
Not one but two prestigious trophies at the Decanter World Wine awards, combined with the recent announcement of achieving the New World Wine Producer of the Year trophy at the Sommelier Wine Awards UK certainly reinforces Saint Clair’s reputation as a leading New Zealand wine producer.
"In 2005 Saint Clair was in fact the first New Zealand wine company to win major international wine trophies for both Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir in the same year," reflects Saint Clair’s Managing Director Neal Ibbotson.
"Both these varietals have consistently achieved great results. To have both these varietals show their quality in such a prestigious international wine competition shows consistency, which we attribute to our unique quality assessment system. This approach has identified superior sub-regions within Marlborough and has lead Saint Clair Family Estate to being one of New Zealand’s most awarded wineries."
