New Zealand Wine: Unprecedented Medal Success At Matua Valley
Matua Valley Wines are enjoying unprecedented levels of success on both sides of the Tasman
(drinks media wire) - Over the past 18 months, Matua Valley has been awarded a record 6 trophies and 14 Gold medals across multiple varietals including Syrah, Malbec, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc.
The recent haul of 3 trophies at the 2012 International Cool Climate Wine Show (29th and 30th May, Victoria Australia) for the 2010 Matua Valley Reserve Syrah, including the Best Wine of the Show trophy, is a record for the winery.
“The International Cool Climate Wine Show is a very tough wine competition – with only 26 Gold Medals awarded from 645 entries. Also only 50% of all entries won medals which is quite a bit lower than the average” (Terry Copeland, International Wine Judge).
