The LCBO (Liquor Control Board of Ontario) honoured its industry partners, suppliers and agents for their innovation, creativity and commitment to customer service and social responsibility at the Elsie Awards held in Toronto on June 21st 2012. Wines of Germany (Canada) was recognized with the Best VINTAGES ON-Premise Collaboration Award.
It was granted for the successful on-premise event "Highest Riesling Lounge in the World" and thematic tasting held at the 552 metre high CN Tower in Toronto in May 2011.
The Elsies - an industry awards program now in its 18th year - recognize those "who have excelled at marketing their products and who have worked particularly well with the LCBO to help consumers discover the world of beverage alcohol," said Shari Mogk-Edwards, vice-president, Merchandising and VINTAGES and co-chair of the Elsies.
German wines sales have turned a corner in Ontario growing +5% in volume and +7% in value in 2011, gaining market share and building awareness , in particular for Riesling.
