Mark Herron joins Four Seasons Resort Vail from Four Seasons Resort Whistler.
(drinks media wire & Drinks Hotels) - Four Seasons Resort Vail announces the appointment of Mark Herron as General Manager. Herron replaces veteran hotelier Hans Willimann, who is retiring after 33 years with Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts. Having been with the company for 24 years, Herron joins Four Seasons Resort Vail from Four Seasons Resort Whistler, where he has served as General Manager since 2008.
“I am thrilled to relocate from the Canadian Coast Mountains to the equally beautiful Colorado Rockies,” says Herron. "Four Seasons Resort Vail is a celebrated property in the Vail Valley, and I am excited to represent the newest property in the company's Mountain Resorts Collection. I will be replacing Mr. Willimann, a Four Seasons icon, and am up to the challenge of filling his shoes.”
Coming from the slopes of Whistler, home of the 2010 Winter Olympics, Herron is highly familiar with the unique needs of a destination mountain resort town.
“I look forward to further elevating the presence of the Vail property while continuing to work in tandem with Four Seasons Mountain Resorts in Whistler and Jackson Hole,” says Herron.
Herron joined Four Seasons in August of 1988 as Club Manager of the Sports Club at Four Seasons Resort and Club Dallas at Las Colinas where he helped direct 12 Byron Nelson PGA tournaments. In January of 2000, he was appointed Hotel Manager at Four Seasons Hotel Houston, where he assisted with the launch of the Hotel's award winning restaurant, Quattro. Later, he moved to the former Four Seasons Olympic Hotel in Seattle. Next was Four Seasons Resort The Biltmore Santa Barbara, where he helped guide the property through a USD 200 million renovation. In June of 2006, he returned to Four Seasons Hotel Houston. In September of 2008, Herron was appointed General Manager of Four Seasons Resort Whistler, where he led the Whistler team to its fifth consecutive AAA Five Diamond rating; Four Seasons Resort Whistler is Canada's only Five Diamond resort. Herron has been a respected leader in each of the communities he has resided, most recently serving as a board member of the British Columbia and Whistler Hotel Associations and Chamber of Commerce.
Herron has the Rocky Mountains in his blood. As a boy, he accompanied his grandfather mining for gold and lead ski trips to Vail Valley, where he met his wife 28 years ago. Herron will reside in Vail with his wife, Shelley, and their two children, Luke and Maggie.
