Zambian Breweries Plc to employ over 20 skilled Labour force for New Brewery

(drinks media wire) – In preparation for the $90m plant that expects to pack its first beer before the end of the year, Zambian Breweries Plc intends to employ 29 individuals with appropriate skills to match up with the new high-tech equipment that has been bought for the Ndola based plant.

Managing Director Mr. Anele Malumo said in Lusaka today that Ndola Brewery, which is the oldest brewery in Zambia and built in the 1950s, has served the Copperbelt community with the best alcoholic beverages for decades and with the new brewery, he hopes to improve on the dependable service that has been synonymous with Zambian Breweries Plc.

Last week, heavy duty equipment including six fermenters started arriving in the country from Germany enroute to Ndola where the construction of the 100 million litres annual production capacity new brewery is under-way. This will translate into 267 million bottles per year, easily making it the biggest brewery in the history of Zambia.

Also under construction at the Ndola Brewery site is the $5.5m worth waste water treatment facility that will soon be completed and commissioned before the month of September. The construction of this facility under-pins the company's serious commitment to sustainable development and managing water resources in particular.

While the construction phase alone of the brewery which is expected to last for three years will immediately create employment opportunities for up to 260 Zambians, an additional 450 jobs will be created within the Zambian Breweries PLC value chain upon commissioning of the plant.
