WSTA Procurement auctions deliver big cost savings

WSTA Procurement, part of the member services arm of the WSTA, has helped a member company secure a total saving on packaging and labels in excess of £50,000.

Leading producer and importer of fine wines, spirits and speciality drinks, Halewood International made their saving as a result of a couple of reverse auctions with a pool of suppliers bidding online to provide the company with their products. They added the auction to their own procurement process to achieve savings.

WSTA Procurement organised the e-auctions and bidding by auction participants led to contracts for supplies being awarded and Halewood International securing significant savings on the initial prices put forward.

Halewood International Purchasing Director Ian Duffy said: "Initially we were sceptical about the auction service, but I can honestly say that this member service has been a significant benefit to our business and we have more auctions scheduled during the coming months. The WSTA Procurement reverse auction service has saved us time and money using the online auction system to manage the tendering process. A major benefit is the cost of the service - something which put us off doing this with other providers."

WSTA Chief Executive Jeremy Beadles said: "It's great to see WSTA members gaining so much benefit through their WSTA membership and I strongly recommend other members to use this innovative technique to maximise competition in providing products and services."
