At this years Argentina Wine Awards, 3 days of deliberation by 18 international judges, produced a bumper crop of medal winning wines. On show here are the pick of the bunch, the 14 Trophy winning wines and 28 Golds, that really show off the quality, diversity and sheer value for money of Argentina’s wines.
Wines of Argentina, based in Mendoza City, but with outposts in the UK, the USA, Brazil, Latin America and Mexico, is a non-profit organisation devoted to the promotion of Argentine wine in all Global Export markets. The membership of WofA comprises the cream of Argentina’s wine producers and now numbers 161.
Argentina is the world’s 5th largest wine producer with a 500 year history of wine production. Hugging the mighty Andes mountain range, its wine regions stretch 2000km from the northern province of Salta to Patagonia in the far south. The unique high plains desert terroir of these regions is home not only to the world’s highest vineyards but, amongst a dizzying array of grape varieties, the worldwide phenomenon that is Malbec was born and now flourishes.
