(Drinks Media Wire) – The pursuit of quality has always been a top priority for all Castel properties; it was a logical step then, to call on the knowledge and support of a number of independent wine advisors.
To maintain the philosophy of highlighting the specific characteristics of individual terroirs, Castel Estates and Vineyards clearly needed to team up with recognised experts in the field.
In 2007, Pierre Castel retained the services of Antoine Médeville, who brought his knowledge and expertise of the Haut Médoc terroirs (Margaux, Moulis ...) to two Castel Châteaux in the same region: Château Barreyres and Château d’Arcins.
The experiment proved to be an unqualified success, so the following year (Vintage 2008), more partnerships were forged:
Olivier Dauga, “Le Faiseur de Vin” took charge of the Bordeaux Supérieurs at Château de Goëlane and Château Mirefleurs.
In the Médoc, Château Tour Prignac is taking valuable advice from Eric Boissenot whose list of clients includes some highly respected names. (Château Latour, Château Margaux).
More recently, the Castel family have approached Hubert de Boüard, owner of Château Angelus, with a view to making significant improvements to the quality of Château Montlabert Saint-Emilion Grand Cru from 2010 onwards.
In the south, Jean Natoli, who heads up a large laboratory near Montpellier, is consultant oenologist at Domaine de la Clapière. He was also retained by the previous owners, giving the Domaine the benefit of continuity.
Each of these highly respected professionals has been entrusted with a property whose location and characteristics fit readily into their own high-profile client lists.
