MCLEAN, Va. - (drinks media wire) - They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but in the Hilton HHonors "Stories Without Words" Photo Contest, one click of a shutter can be worth the adventure of a lifetime. From now through November 21, 2011, Hilton HHonors, the loyalty program for Hilton Worldwide's 10 distinct hotel brands, along with National Geographic Traveler magazine, are encouraging photographers of all experience levels to tell a tale through pictures that capture the reasons we travel. Photos will be accepted in five different categories, including occasions you celebrate, people you meet, the adventures you seek, the culture you learn and the spaces you discover.
One lucky grand prize winner will receive a National Geographic Expeditions trip for two to the Galapagos Islands that includes a 10-day, nine-night adventure, round-trip airfare to Ecuador and hotel accommodations, along with 1 million Hilton HHonors bonus points and $10,000 in spending money (approximate retail value $22,000). Five first place prize winners will also be awarded 250,000 Hilton HHonors bonus points, a Nikon Coolpix P500 camera and a copy of National Geographic's Ultimate Field Guide to Photography (total retail value each of $750).
"Located in some of the world's most spectacular settings, our hotels and resorts have, for decades, allowed guests to create and capture unforgettable memories," said Jeff Diskin, senior vice president, global customer marketing, Hilton Worldwide. "This photo contest gives our members an outlet to share their best moments with the world - and get rewarded in return."
Aspiring photographers can submit their photos at www.HHonors.com/PhotoStories. The photo contest will be judged by Dan Westergren, senior photo editor for National Geographic Traveler. Ten finalists, the top two from each of the five categories, will be selected by Westergren on or around November 30, 2011. Once selected, the finalist images will be posted at HHonors.com/PhotoStories for public voting to determine the five first prize winners - one from each of the categories. The grand prize winner will be selected by Westergren from the 10 original finalists.
